One Room Challenge Urban Industrial Vintage Laundry Room Week 3
Here we are, week 3….the Halfway Mark of the One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda of Calling it Home and House Beautiful. Have you been checking out the other participants…so much inspiration. If you’d like to see what I’ve done so far, take a look at Week 1 and Week 2. Time for an update on our “Urban Industrial Vintage Laundry Room.”
To start things off…see that gorgeous Orchid I posted. My Mom gave me that for my “NEW” Laundry Room, as she called it. Hang on little buddy…I hope the blooms can last a few more weeks. She is the orchid master…I tend to end up with a lone stick! Let’s hope for the best!
Ok, so last week I shared the ugly…the before pics. Remember the light fixture? The ugly, fluorescent, “always tend to flicker lights” they put up in laundry rooms and garages. Well, we got rid of that first thing.
We replaced it with this beauty from one of my favorite sponsors…Lamps Plus. I’ve worked with them for a couple of years now and they are one of my favorites. Not only are they easy to work with, but they have really good products. Always impressed.
Isn’t it beautiful? Still, need to patch the small hole left from the previous light…but let’s focus on the new star in the room!
My first thought was a cool industrial light fixture. But then I thought, why not a fan? Living in Florida, we have ceiling fans in every room and with our laundry room being upstairs where it tends to be warmer we needed it. So I searched for a fan that would fit a small space and yet have that industrial look I wanted. Voila! Lamps Plus had just what I was looking for. In fact, it must be good because they are sold out, so I linked it’s almost identical “brother” here. I can’t tell you how much I love having a fan in this room. Whether, ironing, or drying clothes…the air flow is amazing. Even on Low Speed, this fan makes an incredible difference…and did I mention it has a remote? 😉
Here it is at night with the lights on… so pretty! Do you see what’s on the wall? We basically are working our way from the top to the bottom in this space. So after the ceiling…came the walls. I have had the privilege of working with Milton & King Wallpapers for this space. They have some of the most beautiful wallpapers I’ve seen and I knew I wanted some brick paper in here. Their white brick is so “real” looking, so textural, I fell in love! And so did my family.
I will admit…this part of the project was what I feared the most. I have never wallpapered in my life and only have memories of my Mom spread out all over the living room with buckets of water and paste everywhere. I had no idea how I was going to tackle this. Let me just say, this turned out to be one of the easiest projects I’ve ever done…with a huge impact. Bring on the wallpaper…I’m ready!
The instructions and videos they have are impressive, their customer service is top notch!! I honestly can’t wait to tackle some more walls with Milton & King papers! Big thanks to Mr. BeesNBurlap and my oldest daughter who wants to be referred to as Mini B because without your help…these projects wouldn’t have happened! 🙂
