The Perfect Bed For A Master Bedroom Retreat
Lately, I’ve been adding a bit of “Cozy” to various rooms in our house, just in time for Fall. I recently worked with my friends at Bed Bath & Beyond on the most important cozy space of all. Come on in and see what I did…it’s so easy you can do it too!
Proud to have partnered with Bed Bath & Beyond on this post.
One of the last rooms to ever get attention in our home is the Master Bedroom, sad as that sounds. I know, it should be the first, but with 3 kids, pets and a busy life it just hasn’t happened. Until now. I recently added a narrow desk to my side of the bed instead of my nightstand to give it a different look. I love our bed and dressers but changing that one piece started the ball rolling into creating a Vintage, Eclectic, Chic look I love.
When my friends at Bed Bath & Beyond asked me to create The Perfect Bed with Wamsutta Linens, I was super excited. Wamsutta has some of the most luxurious linens and I knew right away the look I wanted.
Choose the Perfect Bedding
Our room has a neutral color on the wall and 4 windows that get lots of light, with a view of the pine forest. So it was already a retreat for us…now it’s even better. I fell in love with the Wamsutta Vintage Linen collection and let me tell you it’s everything they describe it to be. Made from Belgian Flax, it’s super soft, chic and adds an understated luxury to the bedroom as they say.
Have you ever been on a cruise? Our family loves to cruise and one of my favorite things about cruises is the bedding. It’s layered and weighted and fluffy, it’s perfect. Now I have that same “feels like I’m on vacation” feeling at home…in my own bed.
I chose the Wamsutta Vintage Washed Linen Duvet with the Floral PimaCott Sheets. Who knew sheets could feel so good. Even Mr. BeesNBurlap noticed! What I love is how soft the linen feels and when combined with these sheets…it’s a perfect match.
Even when the bed isn’t made…it’s still pretty!
Add Throw Pillows
The Duvet had matching Shams and I got those to have the completed look. Here is a closeup of the sweet details.
But because I wanted our bedroom to have a vintage, eclectic feel I added a macrame pillow along with some velvet and cotton throw pillows. All from the Wamsutta line. They compliment each other so well while giving me the collected look I wanted.
I added 2 of the Wamsutta cotton cashmere throw pillows in charcoal and one of the washed velvet throw pillows in a cocoa brown color. By adding different color tones and textures it adds dimension to the bedding.
Time for Accessories
Now that the bed is the epitome of coziness…it was time to finish off the room. I love art and especially pieces that are unique and draw you in. Recently I came across this tapestry and immediately thought it would look great over the bed. I also hung two pendant lights over the bed in place of the typical table lamps on each side. Again adding to the eclectic look I love.
In every room, I like to add something unusual or interesting to catch your eye. As if the huge tapestry over our bed wasn’t enough, I added this vintage industrial iron garment stand from Bed Bath & Beyond. 😉 It has detailed scrollwork on the bottom and a Victorian elegant feel. Again, adding elements of vintage and modern is my favorite thing to do when working on a space. This garment rack is not only functional but looks amazing.
I had this pair of vintage doors laying around and decided to add one of my favorite old mirrors and instantly it became the perfect backdrop for this corner.
I added a modern white and brass floor lamp from Bed Bath & Beyond and it was just what this corner needed.
At the foot of the bed, I added a leather and teak wood bench. It’s modern and sleek and just the right touch of texture. And for the final touch of cozy, let’s just talk about this sheepskin rug. It’s so soft I’m hoping they make a blanket someday. For now, my feet are super happy when I walk on it. I love layers, so I placed the sheepskin over a diamond jute rug for extra texture. All of these pieces are from Bed Bath & Beyond.
It seems I have black and white decor in every room and our Master is no exception. When I saw this gorgeous pottery with a number imprinted on it…I knew I had to add it in here. Again, a touch of modern texture that just adds another layer of interest.
So there you have it. It’s romantic, it’s cozy, it’s everything I wanted it to be. The bedding couldn’t be more perfect and I know for a fact we have been sleeping better. Maybe it should say that on the label…Warning: This bedding is so comfortable, you may sleep through your alarm! 😉
