Shop The House Design Challenge – Fall Edition, Week 3
Have you been enjoying our Shop The House Design Challenge – Fall Edition? If you missed Week 1 or Week 2 just click on the link’s and check them out. My friends and I have chosen one space in our homes to redecorate using only items we already have…no buying required, or allowed! 🙂 Hopefully, we have inspired you to try it in your home and maybe we’ve even sparked an idea using something similar! See what I’ve done to my dining space this week.
After my Rustic Old World Tablescape last week, I wanted to lighten things up. I call this week’s theme Apples & Blossoms! 🙂 Doesn’t that just sound fun? So I cleared the table and started fresh. The first thing I did was add a jute style runner I have. I love it because it adds texture but it’s so light and natural looking. I found one online (not the exact same one I have) here at a very good price, in case you’d like one too!
Since it’s Fall, I decided to add some red apples. These actually have an amber tone to them that I love. I’m a sucker for good looking florals and “produce” (fruits and veggies)…I buy them when I see them because you never know when you’ll need them. So after the apples, I added a couple of candleholders one wood and one brass…because if you know me, I love adding different textures.
Since the runner, apples, brass and wood all have a warmth to them, I added the little concrete pot because it adds a cool tone to the table. It also added something else…that’s right…texture! Mixing textures and tones adds so much interest to a space.
In the center, as the focal point is a milk glass style vase I bought a while ago. It is light, bright and beautiful. I paired it up with some very realistic blossom branches I had as well. Again, if you can find good faux florals and branches…buy them. Typically with each season I look for them and stash them until I need them. Because you know how it goes…when you need them, you won’t find them! 🙂
On the other side of the vase, I wanted to add more texture and tones. I had a great little wooden piece from Homegoods and I paired it with some pretty bone china bowls I had gotten from TJMaxx on clearance!! Two of my favorite spots to shop for unique home decor! I always check the clearance aisles first!
I sprinkled a few small pine cones and gold tipped acorns, that I had gotten from the dollar section at Target last year. I also added these navy blue striped flour sacks for a touch of color…again, thank you Target!
And we’re done! I love the new look, it’s so fresh and light! I did it all without leaving the house and spending any money…I should say without spending more money! 🙂
I’d love to know what you think! Leave a comment below and if you follow me on Instagram tag me on your photos showing us how you shop the house using the #Shopthehouse tag!
