I’ve been struggling with our guest bath…it just wasn’t feeling like “me.” So I took some time to think about what I wanted, shopped our home, and bought a couple of new things! I think I finally got it right. For me anyway. I hope you like it!!!
One thing I love about the seasons changing to cooler weather is how cozy everything feels. Of course, sometimes you need to add the “cozy.” I’m sharing two spaces in our home that got the “cozy” touch with the help of my friends from At Home.
Since being home has taken on a whole new meaning this year, my goal was to focus on my Office (the She-Den) and our Kitchen which is the heart of the home.
Here’s a tip…At Home has one of the best online shopping experiences. If you are unable to get to the store due to a busy schedule, health issues or if you’re just being extra careful, take advantage of their online shopping and curbside pickup…it’s amazing!
To avoid being overwhelmed, I try to have a goal in mind while shopping. The goal this time was texture, white decor, and winter elements…and of course the cozy!
For the office, I wanted lots of black and white decor. There is something about that color palette that makes me happy. But I balanced it out with touches of velvet, soft fur, and mixed metals. What do you think?
The first piece I got was this gorgeous swivel light gray velvet chair! It anchored this corner and the layers flowed from there. It’s soft and has the most feminine, yet modern lines.
I layered rugs, faux fur, and then the faux cowhide. One thing I love about At Home is their selection. I can find everything I need. If anything, I find too much. 🙂
I got these two side tables. One was light wood with chrome metal (I love chrome), and the other was a charcoal metal drum table. Mixing wood and metals created the perfect balance of texture.
These tall metal lanterns are striking and remind me of some very high-end pieces I’ve seen online. I tell friends and clients all the time…At Home has high-end pieces at budget-friendly prices and these lanterns are proof. I also added this large white and gold canvas and layered some small decor pieces to my shelves. From mirrors to vases and candle holders…they have it all.
Tip…to soften modern decor, add organic texture.
This large oversize basket serves two purposes…one for holding blankets like this gorgeous faux fur one I got. But also, to add that element of organic texture. The extra-large glass vase filled with the brown grass is just what this space needed. Both of these soften the space and add another layer of texture.
One of my favorite statues has the perfect spot now on the metal cylinder stand. I plan on going back and getting another before it’s gone. These pieces can serve so many purposes from holding plants to lamps and of course statues. 🙂
Ok, so let me show you the 2nd area I did!
Since I spend most of my days in the kitchen, I wanted it to get the seasonal coziness it deserved. I again wanted to add lots of white, pops of black, and of course some gold.
I have always wanted a vintage style mirror in the kitchen. When I found this one I practically did a happy dance in the store. It was just the right size. Mirrors have a way of making spaces look bigger and brighter. In this case, it makes the candlelight sort of dance.
I found these white speckled plates with gold trim, matte black bowls, and the cutest wood napkin rings. Again, thinking color in repeat and texture!
The sweet Moroccan style lantern is an unexpected piece, but I love the glow it gives off in the kitchen. And you know I love to design with the unexpected. These retro-looking gray glasses are beautiful and go perfectly in here. Along with this boho-inspired bowl. Mixing styles into a cohesive eclectic look is what I love most.
I also found this heavy steel bowl and organic shaped white one…both of which just jumped into my cart and into the kitchen. Have I mentioned how much I love shopping there???
Ok, so there you go. I’m in love with the mood in both of these spaces. I hope you like them too and hopefully, I’ve given you some inspiration for the months to come!
I especially love the view here because I can see both spaces at once.
I’ll try to link some of the featured items here for you. If you need help with any of the items shown, drop me a comment below. Again, use the online shopping tool…it’s so good.
Thank you to my “At Home” friends. I absolutely love shopping there and can’t wait to freshen up the next space!!
