One Room Challenge Week 2 Vintage Chic Eclectic Retreat
Well for those that follow me on Instagram, you know we were affected by Hurricane Matthew. Sadly, it coincided with my first ORC post last week but thankfully, the power was on and I posted. You can see Week 1 here. The bad news is that it set me back a few days. But thankfully all is well and it’s week 2 of the ORC…I’m so excited to share the latest!!!
I really can’t wait for this space to be done. For some, you’re already getting cold weather I know. For us here in Florida, the best months are just ahead. I can feel a tinge of cooler weather in the air and I can’t wait to enjoy every minute on our back porch retreat.
No, this isn’t my porch…but if this doesn’t inspire you I don’t know what will! I do love so many things about this picture.
To recap, we have a framed-in screened porch. While I always did my best to make it cozy with chairs and a table… it wasn’t a ”living space”. It got cluttered, and there was never enough seating for our whole family. I want a real room…a place to eat dinners, have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night. I want to listen to music and just relax and have extra space for our guests when we entertain.
So here is my TO-DO List:
- Get main seating for Lounge Area.
- Set up wall of windows and paint the trim. (You’ll have to see what I mean with this one) 🙂
- DIY chandelier.
- Make over Industrial Cart.
- Install Storage, ceiling fans and outdoor speakers.
- Create outdoor curtain system, better than current one.
- Make and organize a potting shed table that is both pretty and functional.
- Add a little whimsy.
- Decorate, accessorize, add rugs and bring the whole concept together.
Disclaimer: This is the list as it stands today and barring no more hurricanes 🙂
My list could have sub-lists, but that would stress me out! 🙂 I can’t wait for number 9! That’s my favorite part! I have so many ideas in my head of different things I want and how I’d like this space to look but until #9, when I start really putting it all together I’m not sure how it will turn out.
There are elements in all of these inspiration pictures that I love. I am keeping certain pieces that I have on the porch already because I just really like them, AND they will work with the new look. Also, this is a budget friendly project so repurposing is important!
Here is a peek at some of the patterns and colors I will be using in the space.
Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Pinterest and here on my blog (sign up for emails) to see my progress. I will have more details and sources for you next week. Thanks again to Linda at Calling It Home for organizing such a fun event and all the wonderful sponsors! Be sure to check out what the other Guest Participants and Designers are doing!
I promise to show you more of what’s going on next week. For now, that’s all I can give you! See you soon!
