One Room Challenge, Urban Chic She Den – Accessories and Details
So this is the time I start to get nervous AND super excited!! We are on Week 5 of the One Room Challenge !! Next week is the big REVEAL!!! If you missed the first 4 weeks, you can catch up here… Week 1 , Week 2 , Week 3, Week 4. Thanks again to Linda at Calling it Home and House Beautiful for sponsoring such a great Design event!!!
I really hope you all have enjoyed the last few weeks. I wanted this to not only be a Makeover for me but a Virtual Design Learning experience for you! Hopefully the tips I’ve shared will help you create a space you love and take out some of the guesswork. Also, I hope you have looked at my collages and top choices and picked out what you think I chose for my Urban Chic She Den. If not, go back to each week’s post and choose! I’m curious to see how well you know me! 🙂
So we have the walls done, the floors covered, the furniture is in place…now what? Time to dress it up!
A room without accessories is like a woman going out with the perfect dress on and no jewelry!
So let’s get our jewelry on!
Take a look at this photo I took of my dining table.
While the table and chairs alone are gorgeous…the accessories are what complete the space. By adding, vases, containers, flowers, candleholders and more, the tablescape comes alive with texture.
This photo of my living room shows how even in a neutral space, accessories can make all the difference. Again, adding candles, mixed metals, a rustic bench and a large horse statue it brings texture and warmth to what could be an otherwise flat space.
One of my all-time favorite accessories to use is Florals! And if you can find good FAUX florals, use them! This entryway is a blank canvas so it allows me to mix things up and change it regularly. For Spring I added a vibrant pop of color by using the green glass vase, beautiful artwork and these gorgeous blooms from Afloral.
So here are a few of my favorite tips when choosing accessories:
- Add Texture. Feel free to use mixed metals, wood, stone and organic materials like straw or jute. The more the merrier.
- Keep in mind your color palette and patterns. Accessories should complement the space, not confuse it.
- Use what makes you happy. Sometimes I add a piece to a space because I love it and every time I see it, I smile.
- Don’t overdo it! Again, you want your accessories to bring out the best in your space, not clutter it up.
I am happy to say I worked with my friends at Joss & Main for some of my favorite pieces. I can’t wait to share them with you next week. Here are some of the items that made my short list. Which ones are your favorites and which do you think I chose?
Accessories come in all sizes, big and small and in between. From Vases to Candleholders these are some of my favorites! All of the above can be found at Joss & Main.
Here are a few more that I had my eye on. Some came to live with me and others may show up at another time! 😉
Again all these pieces can be found online at Joss & Main.
So what do you think? Pretty awesome pieces. Any of these would surely add some sparkle to a space. So which ones do you think I chose? Last chance to put your ideas together and compare to my reveal next week.
As a reminder, you can see all my images from these posts so far with my shortlists and possibilities on my ORC She Den Pinterest Board. Also, revisit Week 1 , Week 2 , Week 3 and Week 4 if you missed them!
I’m excited to be working with some of my favorite sponsors on this project… Bed, Bath & Beyond, Lamps Plus, Rugs USA , Joss & Main and Milton & King. I’ll also be sharing some small shops and artists with you along the way.
I hope you follow along with me on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and here on the Blog to see the progress each week. I can’t wait to see what you design for yourself…and what you choose for me, at the end.
