New Year, New Me…Back Porch Retro Retreat

Hey everyone! As much as I love our boy Ford, I’m taking back the porch. Since he’s grown up a little and isn’t the destructive puppy he once was, I’m moving his crate out and creating the Mid-Century Modern (with a touch of Boho) space that Mama wants! My friends at Joss & Main helped me to create the perfect retreat for the New Year and the New Me! Come take a peek.

I’ve told you before how much I love, love my back porch. It was one of my favorite makeovers ever, you can see how it all started here. Living in the country, it’s literally an extra living space with a view. With each change or update, it gets better and better.

When I recently changed out my tabletop fire pit for this retro chiminea on this side of the back porch, it started the creative juices rolling. I wanted to create the perfect Mid-Century Modern Boho retreat.

Joss & Main had the perfect items, beginning with this chair. I’ve seen this chair before and I’ve always loved it. Now I had the perfect spot for it. 😊

I love the retro rattan look, while the color makes it feel modern!

Any time I can add a pop of white, I will. White is good for a few reasons.

It brightens up a space.
It goes with everything.
It’s a timeless color. Not a fad.

This is now officially MY chair. It includes the ottoman so I can literally stretch out and enjoy the view. And because I know many will wonder…it IS strong AND comfortable. Give me a blanket and I’m all set for the chilly mornings!

To add some color and contrast I added this beautiful geometric outdoor rug. Ford is good, but he’s still a dog. So the dark colors will help when he runs in with messy paws. Did I mention it’s totally washable material? I love the bright green border on this rug, too. Just the pop of color I wanted.

Let’s address the brass beauty in the room! I did say Mid-Century Modern right? So what says MCM more than a

bar cart??? Ahhh…look how pretty it is? It’s perfect for entertaining or just holding my coffee and breakfast in the morning. The kids can roll it around and pamper me. Go ahead kids, I don’t mind. 😉 And you won’t believe the price on this one!

To add more texture to the space and that little bit of boho, I layered this jute detailed rug on top. The perfect touch and again something I’ve had my eye on and finally have a place for it. Remember, adding texture is the key to creating spaces with interest. Layers are good! 😉

I wanted to add a little table for some extra dining space or entertaining and these nesting tables were perfect. Small and compact and just the right style.

I wanted to add a few Mid-Century Modern accessories as well. This planter caught my eye! It has a great pattern on it and it’s another texture to add to the space.

So there you have it, my chiminea has some new friends and I think they will get along just fine. It’s amazing how a few new pieces can change a space. I’m very proud to have partnered with my friends at Joss & Main to create this new look.
