New Lounge for the She Den with a Mid Century Modern Vibe
Well, I did it! I didn’t think I could love my She Den more…but I do! Come on in and see the latest! I have more seating so there is room for all!! 🙂
I recently partnered with my friends from At Home to create “the perfect seating area” in my She Den! For those who may be new here, you can check out the She Den transformation here.
So this is my office, my creative space! It’s where Art runs wild and so does my love for color and all things a little bit funky! I love this room because it’s light and bright and has such a playful spirit! When I set out to create it, I wanted it to remind me of an Urban Artist’s Loft! And that’s how I feel when I’m in it!
While doing our recent Kitchen and Flooring Renovation we had an incident and our piano that was in this space had to go! It wasn’t a family heirloom and it was terribly out of tune and somewhat neglected so it wasn’t too sad of a story. But I now had a whole empty wall and needed to fill it. Every Interior Decorators dream! 🙂
So I decided to create a sitting area/reading nook/lounge area…
I wasn’t sure what I would fill the space with so I went to my local At Home and walked the aisles for inspiration!
You can see my shopping adventures here on my Instagram Story Highlights! Always fun to shop!!!
I had initially wanted a small velvet sofa that I fell in love with on a recent trip to At Home but it would have overpowered the space. As beautiful as it was, I had to move on. But have no fear…they have so many pretty things I found something even better in my opinion!
Check out these beauties!
They have the retro look like something from my Grandmother’s New York apartment, but with the sleek style of today. Check out the gold legs!
The tufting, the soft velvet, and the small footprint made these perfect for the space!!
Now that I had my main pieces selected, it was time to find the finishing touches!
When filling a space don’t forget the little things…
- Rugs
- Lighting
- Accessories
- Art
- Accent furniture
I wanted a rug to add texture and make the chairs pop! I loved this black leather rug and it was too cool so in the cart it went…fringe and all! The small vintage rug was the perfect pop of color to tie in the chairs with the rest of the room. And against the dark floor, they look amazing!
Notice too that it doesn’t FILL the space, but it adds enough texture and definition to anchor the space! These were smaller rugs and they worked out perfectly!
I looked for art to go on the wall and funny enough fell in love with this little piece!
It had the perfect colors and mood for the room so I decided to add it to my wall and leave the clock that was already hanging there. It made the wall feel more like a collected space because the artwork reminded me of a vintage oil painting, but with a modern touch!
I found the Mid Century Modern tripod floor lamp there as well. It was the perfect pop of white that I was looking for and just the right height for these low profile chairs. It was really coming together!
I was now on the hunt for the perfect accent table to put between the chairs…and when I saw these it was done!! These tables in a high-end design shop would cost a small fortune! So you can imagine my happy dance when I found these and then saw how inexpensive they were! The acrylic, the wood, the chrome legs!! All the heart eyes!!!
Aren’t they gorgeous??? And nesting tables are always a good thing!!! I have personally bought some of my favorite “high-end designer” pieces from At Home! Many may think it’s just an ordinary home decor store…I think it’s a treasure trove! 😉
To add to the character of the space, I added this beautiful piece of pottery that has the look of something old and worn. I added a few modern branches for contrast. It goes with the artistic vibe in the space while adding more texture.
I filled a brass bowl from At Home with tortoise colored shells. Again, adding another layer of interest and texture.
While I was looking for the perfect rug or rugs for the room, I fell in love with this funky little zebra one! It was too cool and I had to figure out a way to add it to the room. I told you…this is where creativity can run wild and I love it!!!
To balance out the modern touches I added this large jute basket to the table. It has the perfect organic texture. Have I mentioned how much I love baskets and that they are totally a weakness of mine??
So there you are…my new and improved She Den! This room keeps getting better and better and I’m in love with the new pieces I got from At Home! What do you think? I left you some, so you can go buy your own! 😉
