Kitchen Makeover One Room Challenge Update, Week 2
Hi everyone!! It’s Week 2 of the One Room Challenge. Are you loving all the inspiration from all the participants? I am. Time for an update on Kitchen Reno #2! I don’t want to give much away but I will say this…I narrowed down the best paint for the job.
Benjamin Moore Advance, hands down the perfect paint and primer for my cabinets. Again, I did my homework. I read, I asked, and I read some more. I even did a survey on my Instagram feed…you may have seen it. I wanted to make sure we did it right the first time. I will tell you this…after the primer alone, they looked amazing!
I can’t wait to show you the finished product. I’ve been looking for hardware and I decided to change out some of the knobs and repurpose the others. This is a great money saving tip. A little spray paint and I have a whole new look. Don’t worry, I’m going to do a detailed blog of the cabinet makeover later. I will share all my tips and what I’ve learned. Here is a little inspiration.
As I was thinking of what I wanted to do, and bouncing ideas around in my head…I may have verbalized a few of those ideas to my family. Then came the looks…do you get those looks? I remind myself I’m the Decorator, I’m the Decorator. My husband is the Guitar Player, my son is the Drummer…this is my arena. But it does make me question myself. I went with my gut and thankfully after a few things have happened…they are starting to see the vision and they like it. So the lesson is…go with your gut and follow through. What the worst that can happen…Kitchen Reno # 3 I guess. 🙂 But you’ll never know until you try. Thankfully my vision is working so far. Here is a source of big inspiration for me…Heather Bullard. She has amazing style and I love everything she does.
The reality is that my home is not Magazine worthy and I’m not a world renowned Interior Designer. I am ok with that, really ok.:) I love our home, our family and I’m grateful for every little thing we have. My goal in everything I do is to decorate on a budget and with creativity and character. I hope it comes across in this reno as well. Throughout my blog, I want to inspire you to look at things in a different way. Shop your house first, move things from room to room. Then hit the clearance aisles (I always run there first). Don’t drive by the thrift shops and yard sales. That’s where you can find one of a kind pieces for very little. Here are a few more inspiration pictures. I can’t replicate any of these spaces completely, but I can take a little here and there from them.
I really don’t want to give too much away, I know I’m supposed to give you some updates. I’ll tell you this…some cabinets were removed. Some hardware was painted. 🙂 Stay with me on Instagram and you may get more sneak peeks. I promise to tell you more next Thursday.
