Interior Moulding, Finishes and Trim Made Easy by Metrie!

Growing up in the South, particularly the great city of New Orleans I developed a love for old homes and their architecture. I toured Anti-Bellum Plantations, admired the old estates and even went to High School in a 100+ year-old Courthouse. Charm was everywhere, but particularly in the architectural details. The doors, the ceilings, the carved trim and woodwork. Now many of us don’t live in a 100+ year old home, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some of that charm.
I know for many people I work with decorating and design doesn’t come easy. In fact, it can be overwhelming. I always tell clients and friends…relax…this is supposed to be fun! And it should be! The first step in solving any problem, is consider all your options and do some research. Well, I’m going to help you out a bit because I’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem that may help you in your search for adding the charm and architectural detail that I’m talking about because let’s face it adding moulding and trim work CAN be overwhelming…but it doesn’t need to be. Hope you don’t mind if I share a few examples of how beautiful it can be! 🙂

Through Instagram, I recently came into contact with a company named Metrie. They started out as a family-owned company back in 1926 and have grown to one of the largest suppliers and manufacturers of solid wood and composite moulding in North America. Here is the best part…Metrie has developed five unique, all-encompassing Interior Finishing Collections for trim and doors. They have taken that “overwhelming feeling” out of the equation.
Maybe you want to add some crown moulding to the living room but you’re not sure where to start. Or perhaps you want to add some ornate European charm with moulding and an interior door to your bedroom, but don’t even know what to look for. With Metrie’s help, all you have to do is browse their all-inclusive Collections and choose the one that fits your style best. It’s sort of like having someone pick out the right shoes and accessories to go with the perfect outfit! How easy is that!
They have what they call the Then & Now Finishing Collections™ and each one is inspired by a different architectural style. I think Metrie describes it best when they say these Collections are “carefully designed to work with the most up-to-date decorating styles and trends. So now Baroque elements can speak the language of Shabby Chic. And Art Deco can take on an Urban Edge.”
Take a look and see what I mean. Each Collection evokes a feeling, a mood and a design. All you have to do is pick the one you want, install it and paint!

If you love these images I’ve shared as much as I do, you’ll be happy to know they have all been designed using elements from Metrie’s Then & Now Finishing Collections™. To view more of these incredible images and for more inspiration click here!
We can’t all live in a Plantation, and I can only dream of having a bathroom as gorgeous as this!! We can, however, all be inspired to create a better space and a more charming room with a timeless look!!
So don’t be overwhelmed…have fun. Decide what look inspires you and go for it. Start with the trim, finish with a coordinating interior door. You can do this! And when you’re done, you will be able to stand back and admire the charm and architectural detail of YOUR home and so will all those who visit!
I would love to see what you do. Please tag me on Instagram or send me a comment here !!
Until next time…take care!
