How to Use Flowers Fresh or Faux In Your Decor!
One thing I love to use in my decor is flowers and branches, fresh or faux. It’s an easy way to change your look for minimal cost. If anything I have to control myself from filling my home with too many!
I’m always looking for interesting vases or planters to use. From thrift shops to my favorite stores. Using something a little out of the ordinary always makes an arrangement or a single stem stand out even more.
The simple faux succulent in the concrete vase adds just the touch of color and texture to these kitchen shelves. I love the purple against the gray and gold.
Sometimes a faux stem or arrangement is the perfect solution for adding a little softness and interest to an otherwise “functional but boring” space.
I placed this large Magnolia branch in a vintage water bottle for interest. It gives this little corner just the pop of white it needed and it looks so good against the blue hue of the glass.
This succulent “garden” is in an old chippy stone urn that I got from a favorite shop for $20. It was most likely used outside in it’s glory days. I love bringing stone pieces like this inside, especially when it has patina and in this case a worn look…chips and all. These faux succulents are from Hobby Lobby and they look so real. Surround with moss and you have a beautiful focal point that never needs watering. There is something about the bright green and pops of color against a neutral stone piece.
Spring and Summer are great seasons to get flowering branches like these I found at Joann’s Fabric. You can add a pop of color without being overwhelming. I paired these with some driftwood as a vase filler to add texture and interest. Simple and yet makes a bold statement on the mantle. Look around your house for a vase or vase filler that you may not normally think to use and try it…you might like it.
I’m always finding silver plated and brass bowls when I’m out thrifting. I love using them for a lot of things. One thing I love using them for is as a planter for succulents. This little guy is real and I love the look of the green against the brass. I always add moss around my succulents because it helps them retain moisture and gives it a finished look.
I actually have a closet full of faux branches and stems. I’d rather buy one good branch, then a dozen bad ones. Meaning, spend a little money on your faux flowers and branches, it will make a difference…trust me. Whenever I find good ones I buy them, especially if they are on sale. This way I can change out an area when the mood strikes and it doesn’t cost much at all. Try to spread out your arrangments and containers, keeping in mind colors, size, and style.
These white branches are some of my favorites. I paired them with a vintage leaded glass candle holder. I love the look, and for just a few dollars at a local thrift shop I have a unique vase. You don’t want to overwhelm a space or a room with too many flowers or with colors that compete for attention. The idea is to add texture, layers and color while keeping the balance of the whole space. I’d love to see what you do…tag me on Instagram so I can see what you come up with!
Have a good one!~Holli
