Food, Fun and Fans in Sarasota Florida!
I didn’t know what was in store for me when I was invited to join a group of bloggers at The Sarasota Modern Hotel for a weekend event hosted by The Casablanca Fan Company, but I’m so happy I went!! Nothing like a few days away, hanging with a talented group of ladies in a beautiful Hotel talking design to get the creative juices flowing.
I was so excited to check out the hotel! Described as a Luxury Boutique Hotel it has a great Retro style design with a mix of Modern Art infused throughout. My design senses were tingling. As soon as we arrived I was taking in all the styles and textures around me.
From the Terrazzo floors…
to the living “green” wall…
and this incredibly cool wood wall…
And this was all just in the lobby area!
The hallways to the rooms had a touch of industrial and a moody modern look I loved.
The rooms were bright and had a clean modern design.
and the views weren’t too bad either! 😉
It was time to meet my fellow bloggers and the Marketing and Design team from The Casablanca Fan Company.
After the initial greeting, it was like being with old friends. We spent the first night getting to know each other
over dinner at the coolest restaurant…Boca in Sarasota.
I have grown up in the South but I had my very first plate of Fried Green Tomatoes. Oh. My. Word. I can’t say enough about them, other than I am sad I only had them once! If you ever have the chance, you have to go there!!!
The next day we were up early and ready to tour The Sarasota Modern…officially! I loved seeing all the fun details that were thoughtfully infused into this Hotel. Truly unique. From the Gator (Rudy) hanging from the ceiling over the Bar to the Adult size Bunk Beds in some of the rooms. I’m totally requesting that room next time! 😉
We were able to see some of the new and most popular Casablanca Fans that have been used throughout the Hotel. I absolutely loved the Piston Outdoor Fan in the new Sage Green color. It went so well with the tropical feel of the Hotel, yet played off the retro vibe!
At first, I thought Sage Green would be a difficult color to use in a room. After seeing it, it really is a neutral
with personality! It could be used in any room and with many different styles…from Modern Farmhouse to Eclectic, Boho and more!
Fans are more than just functional…they are the finishing touch!
The patio area by the pool didn’t disappoint. I love how they incorporated fans and globe lights. They used the Paume model which is wet rated and perfect for all of the elements.
The last stop of the tour was to see my favorite fan of all…the Aya. It was inspired by Japanese woodworking and Scandinavian Design.
The wood is beautiful and I love how you can see the grain in it. The sleek two blade design and the soft LED light is perfect for so many spaces.
One of the coolest things about this fan is that it’s Wi-Fi enabled. The only thing left to do is choose the color
Matte Black…or Porcelain White?
We had brunch at the Hotel’s restaurant Rudolph’s. I had the Sourdough Ricotta Pancakes…and no regrets!!! They were amazing!
Next stop was the Ringling Museum! Ever been?? The history and architecture are amazing. Not to mention the Circus Memorabilia.
It was a perfect day with beautiful surroundings.
Creative inspiration was everywhere.
We had lunch at the Muse which is on the property of the Ringling Museum. They had a sandwich that included Fried Green Tomatoes! It was a no brainer! I got it and still no regrets! It was absolutely delicious. 🙂
We had the afternoon off to explore or in my case take a nap…then it was off to an amazing dinner at a very chic spot call Element. Described as a Modern Mediterranean Grill…this place was as beautiful as the food was delicious! And be sure to order the cheese fondue…all I can say is, “More Please”!!!
After having our fill of food and some delicious wine, we recapped our weekend discussing new ideas for Casablanca Fans and what they have coming down the line! All I can say is I’m thrilled and honored to have met all these wonderful ladies. I’m inspired to look at Fans in a whole new way and I can’t wait to show you the ones I’m going to incorporate in my decor. They really are more than just Fans! They are works of art!
Thank you to the team at Casablanca Fans and The Sarasota Modern for a wonderful and creative weekend!!
