Cozy White Wood and Gold Dining Room Decor
I made a few changes to my Dining Room and I’m loving it. You don’t have to make big changes to have a big impact. As Winter approaches, I love a simple color palette of white, wood and a touch of gold. The biggest change is the coziest of them all! Come on, I’ll show you!
Seating
I have been in love with the gold Tolix style chairs and really have wanted them for our dining space. But I knew that 6 of them would be a little too much for my style. Remember….
A Little Goes A Long Way
Words to live by! So I decided to get 2 for the head chairs. I also didn’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on them. If you follow me on Instagram or here on the Blog, you know that I love to change things up. Spending a small fortune on something that may get rotated in 6 months is not my thing. 😉 Have no fear, I found a super good deal and I’ll share sources at the end.

What do you think? I love them!
The nice thing about these chairs is that when I want to change things up again, I can use these in another space easily…they aren’t too big. But they sure are comfortable.
I also added a couple of stools to one side of the table. The short stools allow for a clean line and make the space look bigger. Again, they can be used elsewhere when I want to change things up. These were a Homegoods find, but I’ve sourced others on my Shop the Hive page here.
Accessories
I wanted a clean simple tablescape. Going with my light and bright “winter” theme, I pulled out some of my favorite vases. These large jug style vases that are reminiscent of milk glass were perfect!!! I love how the light catches them and the bubbles in the glass are just beautiful. I got these at Target years ago and I’ve never seen them again. If you don’t have a large white bottle or vase like this I’d recommend using a large clear demijohn bottle or vase. Remember, light and bright. I’ve sourced a number of ones I love on my Shop the Hive page here. I used my favorite rectangular shaped antique breadboard as the base to it all. More wood tones! 😉
Use dried flowers or stems for Fall and Winter decor. Adds the perfect touch of texture!
I filled my vase with some Preserved Whitewashed Seeded Eucalyptus from my favorite one stop shop for florals…Afloral! This is just one bunch. You get a lot for the money and it has a beautiful white/gray finish. Perfect for the look I was going for. Use BEESNBURLAP10 for 10% off orders $50 or more.
Floors
The biggest change to the space was on the floor. Have you noticed that amazing rug UNDER my table. That’s right…I have a rug UNDER my table. I’ve never had one there. I’ve always wanted one but never felt comfortable putting one there. I was always afraid of spills, stains, and even trying to vacuum one can be a hassle, they always tended to slip or slide. It just never worked out…until now. 🙂
Check out my FLOR tile rug, I made it myself! 😉 Seriously!! Well, I put it together and that counts right?! The pattern I chose is Tuxedo Pocket in Pearl. When the tiles arrived, the packaging was so nice and the instructions were so detailed. I was able to create the size I wanted without having to move all my furniture. In fact, once we moved the table out of the way, I laid out the size and design in less than 30 minutes. I loved that I didn’t have to move the heavy lockers or shelving unit in my kitchen. I was able to work around those instead of the other way around. I made my rug longer and more narrow than most standard area rugs.
I’m in love with this new look. To see what a difference the rug made look at the before pic.
Don’t mind the pillows, this was before we moved the table out of the way…but you get the idea right? 🙂
Here is a closeup of the pattern I got. I love how it has a little bit of a Mid Century Modern look while still being neutral enough to go with so many decors.

I can’t tell you how much my family loves the rug. They said it makes the space feel cozier and brighter. I totally agree! And if we do spill something, these tiles are meant for easy cleanup, durability and even pets. I’m thrilled with this product and can’t wait to add more around our home!
So that’s it…a few easy changes equals a big impact! You know me, I’m all about shopping your home first for pieces you can use! Buy items that you can mix and match, and easily rotate. Add in a few new pieces that are well made and reasonably priced. I never promote a product I don’t truly love myself. I love all of the above!! 🙂 And most of all have fun in everything you do!
I’ve linked items in this post and similar ones on my Shop the Hive page here. If you have questions about anything, feel free to write me in the comment section below! I’d love for you to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and here on the Blog for more decor updates and DIY’s.
Thanks for joining me!
See you soon!

Love the little stools around the table … especially for toddlers who cannot just sit in a chair (I have 3 yr old grandson that lives with me). Also love the rug tiles … may do that ! I’m loving mid century and trying to incorporate into home I purchased recently.
