A Modern European Touch in The Dining Room
A couple weeks ago I shared some of my latest Kitchen changes. If you missed it, you can see them here. I’ve been working my way around the room and recently changed up our Dining space as well. I love the new look and I hope you do too!
We recently got a new At Home store in our area. I had only been to one prior to this and it was an hour away, but totally worth the drive. Now I have one 10 minutes away…and boy am I in trouble. 🙂
I partnered with them on my Dining Room refresh and I was able to find just the right pieces to finish off the space. A lot of the pieces I have I’ve collected over time and from many places. But after walking the aisles of At Home, I’m pretty sure that you will be able to find many similar pieces to fill your home as well. They don’t call it a Decor Superstore for nothing! 😉
I recently replaced my large wood open shelving unit with this white and black enamel piece I had found a couple of months ago and it instantly lightened the look of the room. I wanted to keep with a Modern European look with lots of Texture…do you like the Style I made up? My collection of Copper and the enamel shelving reminded me of something you’d see in a French kitchen. The black and white with pieces of concrete and glass kept it modern…i.e. Modern European! 😉
Small and Stylish Storage
While shopping the aisles of At Home I was looking for pieces that reflected the new look I was going for. The first thing I needed was a small cabinet or storage piece to hold some of my serving pieces, mugs and more.
I saw this wood rolling cart from Shanty2Chic and knew it would work perfectly. It was stylish and provided lots of sturdy storage.
Storage doesn’t always have to be closed and covered. You can style and store things in a way that is functional AND pretty.
The Perfect Accessories
I wanted to add curtains to the space and when I saw the black and white striped ones I knew they would be perfect to carry on the black and white theme I loved. Curtains are such a simple change to make to add interest and texture. These were only $24.99 for the pair! You can’t beat that.
I added some faux wood plates to the open shelving. As well as this cool black and white striped pottery piece. The perfect touch to finish off the shelving unit.
When I saw these gold bowls I knew I had to use them. I think they make elegant planters for herbs. You can’t go wrong with gold!
Again, I had so many of these pieces in the space already, I was just looking for a few pieces to finish it off and complete the look I wanted. I have always been drawn to glass bottles, so when I saw this one I grabbed it.
I fell in love with these little pottery pieces and the price was beyond affordable. They could be used alone or grouped together.
This unique shaped ceramic piece added another texture and a great pop of white!
Below I added this large wood carved bowl and the beautiful willow basket on top. The more texture the better!
Lamps in the kitchen always add a touch of cozy ambiance and the choices of lamps and lighting that At Home carries is amazing! I really love how they have them displayed by color so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. I went with this cute mid-century modern lamp and I love the height it gives the cart and the cozy light at night.
So what do you think? I love the lighter and brighter look the Dining space has now. I think the pieces I got from At Home finished it off perfectly. I’m thrilled to have this store down the road from me…Mr. BeesNBurlap may be a little nervous! 😉

I always feel overwhelmed when I go to At Home. After looking at all the cute things you’ve shown in your post, I just had to go back and look around. I bought the white bowl and a few other really cute things. I only had a few minutes but will definitely be going back tomorrow to try and find the pottery pieces that you have displayed. I have some gold utensils that I want to keep out instead of tucked away in a drawer. Thank you for sharing!

Oh I’m so happy to hear it helped! I can get overwhelmed too when shopping. If I know the area I’m going to focus on it helps. Have fun! I love the pottery and wood pieces they carry! 😊
